There are few things we love more in life than pork and our slow cooker. If you’re with us on this, you’re going love this slow cooker paleo recipe! In the video above, Food.com is showing us how to make delicious paleo pork carnitas in the slow cooker.
Before you get started cooking, you’ll want to make sure that you ask your butcher for a tied, boneless, skinless pork shoulder. Once you’ve got the goods, season the pork with salt. Then, get your pan sizzling with olive oil, and brown the meat on all sides.
Now for the super, ridiculously easy part. Add your pork shoulder to the slow cooker, along with onions, carrots, celery, lemon peels, garlic, bay leaves, oregano, almond milk and chicken broth. You’ll cook it all night long if you want, or while you’re at work.
Once you’re ready to shred, it’s time to prep the toppings, such as avocados and onions. Then, and this is where you’re really going to taste and feel the difference, use a lettuce leaf instead of a tortilla to place your pork and toppings.
And that’s it. Having a delicious, paleo-friendly dish is easier than you thought, so there’s now no reason now to stick to your diet.
