Mary Katrantzou, the blossoming designer from Athens, originally started out in the textile design industry which will explain her knack for crazy awesome prints and patterns. Her ready-to-wear lines are always chock-full of opulent designs and colors and her new adidas Originals line is no exception.

The line, adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou,  is a capsule collection for the fashionable fit girl. It features wildly bright colors and kaleidoscope patterns, ensuring that you will be a stand out going to and from the gym. Don’t confuse the pinks and purples in this collection for being “girly”, though. The clothing is for girls who like to be the center of attention but are not to be messed with.

Of course, this is not the first high-end designer to to collaborate with adidas. Everyone from Stella McCartney to Rick Owens has had a shot at the brand and have done a phenomenal job. What we especially love about these collaborations is that while they are athletically geared, there is no denying that the aesthetic is easily identifiable. The artistic freedom and license given to these designers – especially to Mary Katrantzou – is apparent and refreshing.

While the clothing is eye-catching to say the least, the sneakers are sure to stand out as well. According to, Katrantzou was inspired by track shoes worn by medal winners in the 1970’s and 1980’s. However, that was only her starting point, you’ll see that they have been “bedazzled” with studs, spikes, and metallics. These are nothing like grandma’s sneaks.

If you had any questions about fitness booming in the fashion industry, just take a look at a few of the pieces below. For more, head on over to Mary Katrantzou’s website. Luckily for you, the collection became available on November 15.
