Having a hard time getting to sleep at night? Or do you struggle more with staying focused at work?
Well, whether you’re laying your head to rest at night or furiously coding away, Brain.fm is looking to get you well on your way through the power of music.
Using a special algorithmically-generated engine, this beta website was created in order to provide the most ideal background music for focus, sleep or relaxation.
It was created with the help of neuroscientists and has gone through plenty of trials to test its effectiveness.
All you need to do is go on the website, follow the instructions and the setting for your desired scenario, plug in your headphones and listen intently.
I’m currently listening to the music provided for “Intense Focus” (don’t blame me, blame the 3PM slump!) and I do feel it’s helping me concentrate on writing this and not on peripheral activities. This may just be me, though.
if you feel it is not doing enough for you, it is worth going to the “Learn” portion of the website which outlines several factors that may be impairing its effectiveness. For example, are you using high quality headphones? Is the volume just right? And also, how long have you been listening in? Like anything, this music isn’t magic and it requires listening to it for at least 15 to 30 minutes to be able to tell a real difference.
For continued effectiveness, you should consider using it on a regular basis. It’s almost like training your brain! And, if there’s one thing we know to be true, it’s not only important to exercise the body, but it’s also necessary to exercise the mind.
