We’ve all heard about the ways to boost our metabolism or the foods that will help rev up our metabolism but what does that mean really? The Mayo Clinic describes it as this:

“Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. During this complex biochemical process, calories in food and beverages are combined with oxygen to release the energy your body needs to function.”

So, to put this into terms we can all understand: What we put into our bodies has a direct effect on how our body reacts and breaks down those foods  – whether it be fast or slow. A person’s metabolism can be determined by genetics, age, gender and body composition. While it is true that some people seem to be able to lose weight more quickly and more easily than others, everyone will see positive effects when they eat the right metabolism boosting foods!
