You’ve heard it time and time again: Step away from the salad dressing at the salad bar or in your grocery store aisles. While a healthy salad can be low-calorie and veg-friendly, the ready-made salad dressings you buy and pour on can oftentimes be the culprits behind a ton of excess calories, fat, sodium, sugars and even preservatives.

That being said, there’s nothing less satisfying and bland than a dry salad. Instead of reaching for something in a container, try whipping up something a little more wholesome. While we could tell you to drizzle a bit of olive oil and lemon of your greens, these seem a whole lot more inventive. Any one of these concoctions – as indulgent as they may seem – will do. They are guaranteed to be much fresher, lower in calories, and higher in nutritional content. Better yet, they are all totally simple to make!

It’s important to note, however, to keep a steady hand no matter what. Too much of a good thing can actually become a bad thing. Try a couple of tablespoons!
